Landstar employees, laced up their sneakers and hit the streets on April 1st in support of the American Heart Association’s 9th annual National Walking Day.
More than 150 walkers in Jacksonville and Rockford spent at least 30 minutes walking throughout the day on Wednesday.
Walking Day was implemented by the American Heart Association as a nationwide call-to-action for Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Landstar employees were amongst millions of Americans across the nation who pledged to start a healthier lifestyle April 1st.
According to the AHA, walking 30 minutes a day is shown to help reduce people’s risk for heart disease and stroke, improve blood pressure, lower risk for obesity, enhance mental well-being and reduce risk for breast and colon cancer.
